The Nation’s Capital gets that rosy pink glow with their the National Cherry Blossom Festival from March 20-April 16, with the Parade on Saturday, April 15, 2023.

The annual event commemorates Tokyo’s 1912 gift of 3,000 cherry trees to Washington DC as a symbol of friendship between the United States and Japan. Every spring, the Tidal Basin and National Mall burst into bloom, bringing visitors from around the world to view the pink and white spectacle and participate in festivities including the parade, kite festival, and Japanese street festival – now back in person!

This long-standing DC tradition encourages attendees of all ages to fly kites among the cherry blossom trees. This event is fun, free, and open to the public.
