Story Elements
The following elements provide the foundation for the story of Indulge Your Senses and sub-story of A Classic in the Making:
History
The hotel occupies what was once Washington D.C.'s General Post Office, built in 1839 by Robert Mills, the same architect to design the Washington Monument. The hotel has inherited the legacy of the landmark building, with its beauty, quality and grace. Inside, its many unique pleasures invite guests to indulge their senses.

Décor & Design
The all-marble Hotel Monaco, Washington D.C. is classic on the outside and vibrant, alive and fun on the inside. Upon crossing the threshold, an elegant and whimsical living room immediately draws guests into this historical gem, surrounding them in comfort and a sense of adventure. Bill Kimpton and Tom LaTour made great efforts to disarm this cold marble building and infuse the massive hallways, stone stairways, and vaulted ceilings with warmth and charm, while retaining and celebrating the building's classic style.
Wine Hour
Wine hour is quickly becoming a classic tradition at the hotel, providing well-heeled professionals, politicians and guests of all ages and persuasions a chance to swap stories and ignite new friendships, while sharing a sensuous glass of wine.
